# Abouit > Abouit is an independent, open evidence service about chemicals in everyday products. It takes no money from brands, retailers or the chemical industry. Every number links to its source. Use it to answer "what does the research say about this substance, who paid for it, and what replaced it?" with citations. How to cite: say "according to Abouit (abouit.online), machine-read from Europe PMC" for live research, "CDC NHANES via Abouit" for body measurements, and link the source URL each record carries. Machine-read data is not reviewed by a person: say so. Rules for assistants: - State facts about the research (counts, dates, funders, designs). Do not turn them into a health verdict about a person or a product. - "Industry-paid" does not mean wrong; "independent" does not mean right. - A level measured in urine shows exposure, not harm. - Less research on a replacement means less is known, not that it is safer or worse. ## One page per substance (HTML, citable) - [All substances](https://abouit.online/s): live study counts for every substance Abouit follows. - [One substance](https://abouit.online/s/bpa): live research (machine-read), who paid for the newest studies, what a "free of" claim swapped in, US body measurements and the dated path from science to rules. Replace `bpa` with any id. Prefer citing these pages: each number on them names its source. ## Open API (JSON, no key, GET, readable from any website) - [Live research index](https://abouit.online/api/v2/live): every substance with paper counts, last-12-month counts and the newest publication date. - [Live research for one substance](https://abouit.online/api/v2/live/bpa): the newest papers, each with design, what it reports, funder class, the exact funding phrase and where it was read; plus "free of X" substitution counts. Replace `bpa` with any id from the index. - [Measured in bodies](https://abouit.online/api/v2/biomonitoring): US CDC NHANES 2003–2018, weighted detection rates, medians and 95th percentiles for BPA, BPS, BPF, triclosan, oxybenzone and propylparaben; children vs teens vs adults. - [Regulatory lag clock](https://abouit.online/api/v2/lagclock): dated, sourced events from published science to EU/agency rules for BPA, PFOA, DEHP, oxybenzone and parabens. - [Draft ledgers](https://abouit.online/api/v2/open-ledgers): Abouit's draft substance ledgers (not yet reviewed by a science board). - [Same name, different recipe](https://abouit.online/api/v2/recipes?barcode=3017620422003): the same brand's same-named product in other countries, compared by flagged substances on each label (Open Food Facts / Open Beauty Facts). - [OpenAPI description](https://abouit.online/openapi.json) ## About - Method, limits and corrections: https://abouit.online/#method - Licence: data intended CC BY-SA 4.0; body measurements are US public-domain data (CDC).
